soccer.

My younger brother started playing soccer since he was in second grade and ever since he has loved playing the beautiful sport. He has been on indoor as well as outdoor teams. Ever since then its been about soccer and nothing but soccer. Hes been playing with older age groups and has learned so much. He can even school people which just means he outsmarts an opponent by doing a fancy or simple move. Growing up I wasn't much of a sports fan much less an athlete. My younger sister wasn't much of an athlete either. Then came high school and things changed. I wanted to be involved in school as well as make new friends. I also wanted to become an athlete because sitting on the benches and watching my brother play soccer wasn't cutting it for me. So I started with volleyball my freshmen year. Then my sophomore through my senior year came and I joined the soccer team. My brother had a great influence on me and although he is younger I do look up to him. Joining the soccer team at my high school might as well be one of the best choices I have made. I got into shape, made new friends, and excelled in school. Although I had never played soccer before I caught on quick. At first I had trouble but I soon got the hang of it. Soccer was my passion. Everything about it fascinated me. The way the players moved swiftly through the field passing the ball and passing around and through defenders. The way players played with the ball. And especially each goal made. Goals are not quite ever the same and each one is glorious. When going to a soccer game and seeing a team win after putting every effort they have and watching the sweat run down their face you just know they gave it their all and feel their thrill when the buzzer goes off and realize they won after putting up a good fight. All those emotions I have felt especially after a rough game. Nothing can replace or even come close to the feelings that come when playing out in the field and just giving it your best shot. My senior year I was finally on the varsity team and I absolutely loved the experience. My team was so supportive every one helped each other out and after practices a day before a game we would have a team meal at one of the team members house. We ate, laughed, and bonded as a team. I think that's what made us such an amazing team. That year we made history at our school. We were the first South High girls varsity soccer team to be regional champions. We all worked so hard that season and in the end it paid off. That game when we won our title as regional champions was the most intense and optimistic game we had played. I can still remember the suns rays hitting my skin and warming me up. It was so hot out we could barely warm up since we were already warm enough. We weren't at our strongest and we were definitely not ready. The game began and the other team was just killing us the score was 3-1 and we were losing so bad. After half time we woke up and realized we weren't going to win so easily and that's when we bursted with energy and decided to do what we had gone to do, win. We started right away passing the ball and making runs and giving good through balls. Soon enough we were tied. We were doing so well we were so surprised we couldn't believe it. The buzzer went off and we went back to the bench. We knew we had to end it and we were going to win. We were all determined to give it our all. We started with our first over-time. We went in strong and tried our best and nothing happened we were still tied by the end of the over-time. We knew the other team wasn't ready to give up but we knew they were tired. The double over-time started and two minutes in the game we scored. We all ran to the field and jumped with joy. It was such an amazing feelings it is so hard to explain in words. Some of us cried tears of joy because we had worked so hard and had made it so far. I wish my parents had enrolled me in sports before like they had with my brother. I could've been a better soccer player. I strongly believe that each and every child should experience something so beautiful as having a team. Its a really positive experience and helps not only in becoming in shape and doing well in school but you build a type of bond can't find any where else. Being on a team has shaped me to become the person I am today and things have really changed for the better. Being on a team would really guide a child growing up and even going into their adolescence by making good choices.
